We are looking at moving to Florida to study the strangler fig (Ficus aurea). It is the closest thing in the U.S. to the sycomore fig in Africa. If anyone has had any experience with this fig, please post your experience here.

Humans are far different from another other land mammal. Genetically we may be close to chimps and other primates, but we share only a few things in common with them. Humans have the ability to run longer distances than any other land mammal. From a migratory perspective, we are similar only to birds.

Our uniqueness is why I believe that we are not omnivores, but we evolved primarily on a single food. It is a situation like the koala bear, or the panda bear. Without this food we are prone to diseases and early death.

I am starting my first blog today. I hope to share what I have learned about fig trees and I would also like to learn what others know about these magical trees. I have over 50 fig trees in my back yard and I have been researching how to grow them in a geothermal hoop house. I will try to post daily and keep everyone up to the minute on my research and experiments.
